Our Big Idea for this Artist in Residency project was to Belong and Grow! Each student had a part to the puzzle and executed with ambition and attention. As a teaching artist I was really excited to see engaged students reap the reward of persistence.

Students in Drawing and Painting 2 created a community art piece under the theme of "inclusion."

Malcom guided residents on art concepts including pattern and color, and worked with them to design their own cast pieces, which were then incorporated into the final 36" x 22" piece now hanging at PRI.

Artist in Residence K - 9th grade. Kaleidoscope Charter School in Otsego MN.

Our big Idea for this residency was the history of the site. The art lesson was understanding abstraction. Out image included Native American patterns, the natural history of the site and the current building. Students were in grades 2 - 5

This all school residency (K - 5), focused on natural history. Our focus was on the native plant communities and the birds of southern Minnesota.

A four year residency for fourth grade students of Jenny Lind Elementary. This ambitious project built four large scale panels for the atrium entrance of the school. Each year students chose a "Big Idea" and developed their public art project around this theme.

Developed as a service project this 3 day event exposed 7th and 8th graders to glass making techniques, team building and production concepts.

In partnership with the Angel Foundation, we explored the realities of living with a parent with cancer. We developed these themes over the course of 5 sessions into a public art piece that was sold at a fundraising auction for the organization.

Funded by the Visual Arts - McGuire Visiting Artist Program both the Highcroft and Hopkins campuses participated in this artist-in-residency program. Participating students were from grades 1 and 3.
